For tourists planning to go to Turkey on holiday

Dear Clients!

The insurance company PJSC “European Travel Insurance”, in the interests of its clients planning a vacation in Turkey, offers you up-to-date information from an assistance company that organizes assistance and provides support to ETI clients in Turkey.

Currently, the following situation on coronavirus is observed in Turkey.

The thermal imagers have been installed at the airports at the border, upon arrival in Turkey,  a PCR test for the presence of coronavirus is performed immediately at airports for people with temperatures above 37 degrees. If the result is positive, then the tourist is transported to a state hospital, where there will be additional examination methods. And by the decision of the attending physician, the patient is either left in the hospital or transferred to quarantine. To the best of our knowledge    , there was information in the media that in the near future PCR testing will be carried out for all visitors without exception, but so far this information has not been officially confirmed.

During the quarantine tourists stay in their hotels. In turn, hotels for this must provide isolated rooms or blocks. Tourists are told when they will need to repeat the PCR test. State medical institutions themselves control all this.

If the patient is left in the hospital for treatment, then hospitalization can last from 1-2 days to a week, or even more. It all depends on the condition of the patient.

Upon discharge, if the PCR test is negative, the patient may return to the place of permanent residence. If the test is positive, the patient will stay in quarantine at the hotel.

At the time of arrival, the test is done at the expense of the state, at least at the moment there is not any case where payment was requested for it.

In addition, before departure, everyone who has a ticket can do a PCR test, this can be done in state laboratories, the cost of such test is within 15 euros. Antibody tests can also be done (blood is drawn for these tests) - this type of test is done by private laboratories, and this test costs about 38 euros.

Treatment in state hospitals is paid, but territorial location make a difference in this case . In a public hospital the decision whether or not to bill a tourist  depends on entirely the management of that hospital.

For example, in the practice of an assisting company, one of the tourists had treatment  in the Kemer State Hospital for one day, and he was not billed. But there was another case when a patient was in a public hospital in the city Serik, and an assistance company received the bill for his treatment.

As can be seen from the examples, the public hospitals have no precise, well-coordinated case management in patients with the coronavirus disease.

As well, our partner draws attention to the fact that when billing, each state hospital has the right to determine its own prices. The state has set a minimum limit, and the hospital administration has the right to multiply this limit by a maximum of 4. In practice, it turns out that one hospital can multiply this limit by 2, and the other by 3 or even 4. But no one has the right to exceed the limit multiplication more than 4.

In the situation with hotels that take tourists to quarantine, the main role is played by the relationship between the tour operator and the hotel management, in other words, how they agree among themselves, they act.
